TOURNAMENT ENTRY
The 2020 Michigan AAU Boys Basketball State Tournaments will be divided into two rounds
(pool play and championship). All tournament fees and registration information must
be received by the deadline dates in order to enter the tournament. Mail
2020 Tournament Request Form and a copy of the team roster to: Michigan AAU Boys Basketball Assn.,
2406 Romence Rd, Portage, MI 49024.
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
The Michigan AAU Boys Basketball Committee has established a three-division tournament
structure to give more athletes an opportunity to qualify for a National Championship tournament.
The Divisions will be played at different times to allow teams not qualifying for Nationals in
one Division to have the opportunity to qualify in another. The competition in Division 1 will
be consistent with AAU high caliber play associated with travel teams. Division 2 and 3 will be school divisions.
The level of completion will be consistent with school teams or friends teams.
Clubs can choose to play in one division or play in all three. The 3 divisions will be played under the
same tournament format and have the same roster requirements. However, Division 2 and 3 National Championship
qualifiers may not pick up players from teams that have qualified to compete in the Division 1 National Championship.
Division 1 qualifiers may pick up players from Division 2 and 3 rosters when going to a National Championship.
Division 1 will run separate tournaments for both age based and age/grade tournaments for 11U/5th grade, 12U/6th Grade,
13U/7th Grade, & 14U/8th Grade teams.
TOURNAMENT FEES
In addition to club, player, and coach registration fees,
a tournament entry fee has to be paid by each team entered into the state tournament.
Tournament fees for 1st through 5th grade in Divisions 1, 2, and 3 are $325.00 per team or $300.00
per team if a club enters
multiple teams on the same tournament weekend.
The tournament fee to play in each Division for 6th grade through Seniors is $325.00 per team.
Teams that participate in the Division 1 tournament and that also play in the Division 2 or 3
tournaments will only have to pay $300.00 for Division 2 and 3 if $600.00 is sent with Division 1
fees.
For the Michigan Boys Basketball State Tournament fees, a cashier’s check or money order should be made payable
to Michigan AAU Boys Basketball and mailed (along with the 2020 Request Form and copy of the player roster) to Gloria
